So, recently, El Jay made a change that really bugged me. The pan-and-scan bar (for lack of knowing the proper term) located at the bottom of each page was suddenly gone. Wow, there sure aren't many styles without sidebars. Why on earth did they eliminate the pan-and-scan bar? Bah. Oh well, I've settled on one of the few available, it has a nice gray background that photos look good against. But I hate everything else about it, and LiveJournal's customization options are pretty lame.

I've noticed nothing BUT odd today. The new borderless, sidebarless style I've chosen is working just fine. Yellowstone series all displays ok.

Then I go back to the New York story. The text is NOT reformatting for my old-style non-wide screen at work. And the pan-and-scan bar is back - but I've never had to use that for text - just for some of my really wide pictures - until now.

Cut to, well, now. At home, on my wide monitor - the text doesn't need to reformat - but the pan-and-scan bar, though not needed now, is mysteriously gone again.

It's driving me a little bonkers. OK, I'm gonna switch back to my old style (which I really found most pleasant) and see what happens. Sheesh!

Curiouser and Curiouser. In going back to my old style, there's now an option for no sidebar. Cool. But the style does have borders. And so the few ultra-wide photos are still cropped off at the right side where they hit the border - whereas previously they blithely extended beyond the border. And there's no pan-and-scan bar - but it WAS there on my un-wide screen at work about 2 hours ago. This is bugging me!

I like it for the same reason you do... the friends page. Which is how I view your entries (until I get to a cut, then I click over to view it on yours)

Ok, I may ditch El Jay after all.

If I choose a style with no borders so that my once-in-a-while wide photo can display without cropping off the sides, then I have to pan and scan to even READ the text, since it no longer re-formats for different screen sizes.

If this crap is not fixed by year's end, goodbye El Jay. Sheesh!
