Yeah, you got it aaaall right. When I lived there I couldn't fucking STAND their politeness. I even won a first place on a Louisiana speech contest comparing Japanese, russians and americans. The council of Japan to New Orleans himself came up to me and was like "yes..yes I liked your speech very very much. It is hard to live in japan for a russian because of course, japanese and russians have Nothing in common." And indeed he stressed the word "nothing."
