Life isnt full of joy and wonder like I thought when I was young. There arent happy endings if you care for something enough, and the strength of your convictions will will only bring you pain. Everything you've worked for can fall like a house of cards in one instant. "What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger". What a bunch of bullshit.

On the first page of Nietzsche's Twilight of the Idols, he wrote, "Whatever does not kill me makes me stronger." That's where the saying comes from and you're right that what doesn't kill you can cripple you, but as countless dads have said, "Pain builds character". Well, ok actually it doesn't but it does make you more of a badass.
