Yes, yes, yes. Do you mind if I link to this from FB? It's chock full of the points that people reliably miss in terms of understanding this stuff.

In my desire to prove to myself that my passive racism wasn't really racism I'd employ logical hurdles that were ACTIVELY racist. But if I'm just a person trying to be better, then if I jump to a conclusion I can stop and try to make it a learning experience for myself.

This. So much. This is why I automatically side-eye anyone who tells me they aren't racist/sexist/homophobic. If they're invested in that idea they're not going to grow, they're going to be a pain in the ass to talk to about problematic stuff, it's just going to be a mess.
