( It’s not like he’s never seen this kind of phone before - in fact, he considers it to be somewhat outdated. But he’s curious - what has happened to his cellphone? While he has an idea of who may have been behind this - that is, Kotetsu - he assumes that this is the only way he can get into contact with him. And if that’s the case, he’ll give his ( Read more... )

( HMMMMM nope. too late!!!!!! )

Please don't keep me waiting.

( And he clicks the feeds off. During this time, he looks through the network again, searching for the message Kotetsu was referring to. He does find it, reads it through, and begins headed for his so-called.. "new apartment." Frankly, he doesn't want a new one, but it's silly to resist when everyone has been telling him the same thing - that it's impossible to leave. He can resist some other time when he's more used to the hijinks of "Zodion." You've got to understand your enemy before attempting to go against him. That's what he believes, anyway; attacking without any idea what he's up against strikes him as foolish. It's too tactless.

He'll leave that for Kotetsu to accomplish, which he's sure he hasn't failed to do.

On his way there, he goes through the network again, getting increasing irritated by the comments he's getting. Why are people so... unamused by Heroes? And it doesn't take him long to get that answer. Kotetsu. He can only imagine the damage he's done ( ... )

[ WOW. EXCUSE YOU??????????? it's not kotetsu's doing. he's found the same sort of thing daunting and disappointing. he's done what he could to ~inspire hope~ but it's hard with these people!!! shut up.

anyway. he's there as fast as he can be, loping along the path toward the temple. he spots that blond head he'd recognize anywhere and waves, smiling brighter than the sun. as much as it sucks being trapped in this place and that he'd not wish for anyone else to show up, he is glad barnaby's here. sort of. i guess. ]

Oi! Bunny-chan! What district?

( hmph. it's not like he'd know - but you can't blame him when all the shit he's been hearing on the network has been something along the lines of WOW ANOTHER ONE??? he's been receiving the backlash from the other four, and he can't say he's too happy about it. too much to clean up... sigh. but nothing too much for him.

but just as he was about to be content with the results thus far, kotetsu's old geezer voice interrupts his thoughts. upon hearing 'bunny-chan,' he whips his head around toward the voice's general direction. he looks surprised at first, but then his expressions relaxes into something of annoyance, turning the device off before folding his arms. )

Water District, it seems. More importantly, just what have you done here?

[ good luck cleaning up his mess!! no jk. he's not really made one. the only people who have a problem with it are, of course, the judge and the non-believers!! everyone else has been really receptive toward the thought of heroes.

even if the name means nothing in a place like this.

consider his spirits crushed, like only you can do, barnaby. he visibly slumps and sighs, dragging his hand across the back of his neck. not even two minutes in each others presence and you're being such a butthead. kotetsu pouts, poking his chin out almost defiantly and much too childlike for his age ]

I haven't done anything! What are you talking about!! [ and then, almost as an after thought ] Oh, that's across from where I am. [ bummer. :( not that he wanted to be close or anything. don't make the mistake!!! ]

( see, the thing is... the majority of the people are nonbelievers, and he suppose he can understand where these people are coming from. they have never heard of hero tv live. they've never heard of heroes - not their kind, anyway. so when someone barges into another domain claiming to be a hero [which, in kotetsu's case, he imagines it'd be an attempted dramatic entry that ends in failure], it looks pathetic and... unconvincing.

and it's probably moreso when the old man doesn't even act his age...just like so. he lifts his chin as if to show his authority, hands on moving down on his hips now. )

I'm talking about the feedback I'm getting when I mentioned that I'm a Hero. Do you understand what you've done? They view us as a joke. A joke. And I'm glad to be somewhere far from you. I don't need you to tarnish my name as well.

[ w o w. what he thought before? happy to see him???? G O N E. that was such a foolish thought, he doesn't know why he thought things might be different. kotetsu realizes now he got a little too hopeful at the use of his real name rather than the "loving" nickname. there's a flicker of emotions that flit quickly across his face-no single one staying long enough to be recognized, however.

this isn't his fault and it's not really fair. but, kotetsu knows when and how to pick his battles with the younger hero. sort of. well, more or less. and having been gone from his home world this long, he's learned a thing or two about dealing with the prickly types.

nevertheless, he turns with a sigh, hiding his face from view and starts heading back toward the city. his voice is low and even, nothing betraying to how he really feels ]

Come on. It's this way. [ whatever assfuck. he's not even checking to see if barnaby's coming. just walking away. ] And just so you know, it's nothing I did. They felt that way long before I got here.

( but see, he's leaving without a fight, and while that's something he would've preferred earlier on their partnership, this - for some reason - isn't sitting well with him. he doesn't jump the gun and just assumes so, though. as soon as kotetsu turns to walk, he follows without any further fuss, almost visibly relaxing.

he stays quiet for a while, trying to trace back to what'd said earlier... well, he did kind of assume it was just kotetsu, didn't he? and while he could just toss that aside and pretend he never thought about it, he does kind of feel bad, and that feeling only grows the longer the silence blankets between the two of them. it's a great thing kotetsu couldn't see the kind of struggle he's going through in order to justify to himself that he doesn't need to apologise.

but he didn't deserve that verbal lashing he'd been given. ugh. this is so... petty. so childish. he can survive without it, and yet... okay. fine ( ... )

[ of all the things he had been expecting, that wasn't it. he's momentarily stunned into silence and just stands there, still and staring at the ground. it's a little unnerving, to say the least, that barnaby is apologizing. it makes his stomach twist the slightest degree-not knowing what went on back home to inspire the slight change. what had he missed? what had happened? just... what...

after another moment of contemplative silence, he let a small smile settle on his lips as he glances over. it's not like he's gonna actually hold a grudge or anything. bygones, buddy. kotetsu lets out a soft chuckle and nudges his elbow against barnaby's side ]

Yeah. [ it's cool. we're friends. ] Come on, it's not that far from here. [ er... ] And I, ah, guess I can answer any... questions... if you have any? [ please don't. he doesn't want to fjlskjdfsjdf ]

( lot's of things, kotetsu. you took a hit for him back home, remember? and since then, kotetsu has surely grown on him - it's been a bumpy ride, but their friendship has been solidified [at least in his own eyes] once Jake had been gone. and since then, although only a whole twenty-four hour for him, he's find it easier to understand where the old man's coming from. there's still much he has to... get used to, but over all, he's come to understand that all his intentions had been good. he's never once meant any harm despite the fact that it sometimes lead to that. still, it'd started with good intentions...

and when you think of it that way, he's not so bad. he has room for improvement.

he makes a sound of surprise when the elbow contacts his side, leaning a bit. his expression turns to something near annoyance, but doesn't comment upon it. rather, he listens to him... then feigns contemplativeness. )

[ well, if kotetsu knew all this he'd be a hell of a lot happier. but, he doesn't yet, so he'll have to sit in the dark about barnaby's feelings. on the matter.

though, of course, he'd argue that nothing needs to be improved at all!! he's fine just the way he is, thank you so very much.

kotetsu looks over, he IS waiting for it (hoping it's not what he thinks it's going to be). and then the bomb is dropped.

balls. hells bells and fiddle sticks. this is exactly the sort of conversation he didn't want to get roped into having. his eyes widen slightly and he looks visibly flustered. his head snaps back forward to look at the path and he starts walking again without looking back. ]

It's, uh... ... ... [ he just mumbles something, tight-lipped, and rubs his hand over the back of his neck. ]

( that's something he'll probably come to understand; if kotetsu has been here for that long, he has a feeling he'll be here for a while as well, but there's a lot of hope within him that, with him here himself, he's content that they'll make some progress. it usually works that way, but he's not going to jump the gun just yet.

barnaby gives him an extremely quizzical look to counter the other's flustered expression, lofting a brow. if he's having a difficult time, then there's definitely something. his brows furrowed as he thinks of the possibilities... )

That's not being concise.

[ no, it's definitely not, but honestly... did barnaby expect anything different? it's not like this is an easy topic to broach! he'd narrowly skimmed by having to tell blue rose about it-which she got mad at him that he hadn't been the one. that part he was still a little confused about if he thought too long over the issue. that would've been about ten times of awkward, this is just.... ten times that.

though it really shouldn't be. yet, somehow, explaining the sexual nature of the city to his partner just seemed. ...unprofessional.

and now that he was thinking on it-had barnaby even been given The Talk? surely, by this point in his young adult life he had... but kotetsu knew that his parents had died when he was young so... maybe... he didn't know. kotetsu cast a sidelong glance at barnaby. women fawned over him nearly every waking moment-surely... surely he knew all about sex ( ... )

... Oh.

( - is all he manages to say when he finally got over himself and told him. he stares at kotetsu for a long while, checking to see if he's trying to pull a prank on him. and even then, it seems unlikely - kotetsu does have the tendency to joke around more than he'd like, but he'd never joke about something as personal as sex. physical intimacy.

barnaby rubs at his chin, trying make sense of what he's heard so far. it'd been different than what he would've expected when other people have suggested they must do something. he'd expected physical contact, yes, but not physical intimacy. he's had girlfriends though - and he's well past the point of those teenage raging hormonal stages, and while he's never had The Talk, of course he understand what sex is. he knows how it feels and has had to please himself in the past... but it's never been a priority as it seems to be made here ( ... )

[ oh???????? OH????????????? that's it?! kotetsu frowns a little-is that how ~youth of today~ are?? things about sex are just shrugged off like it's nothing? well. well!! he's both shocked and appalled!!! and it shows on his face for a moment before he just sighs and shakes his head.

maybe he's being old-fashioned about this too. not that that is a giant surprise. but this sort of thing... he frowns again as he rubs over his chin. no one really cared too much about courtship anymore, the finer things in life. sex far outweighed romance. it was a dying art. he just shook his head sadly ]

It's not a vacation. ( and if he had said that out loud, he would've commented that, yes, he's behind with times on that as well. people his age would've found another woman to call his own wife by now, but he understands that there are more important things to kotetsu [his daughter, saving lives...], and perhaps he still can't let go of her. he wears that ring up until now, after all. because of the sensitivity of the topic, barnaby decides that he'll just leave it at that. for now, he's more interested in getting the facts, not opinions. but he's sure some would consider this a vacation; kotetsu just happens to be the old man who doesn't.

he's sure certain individuals would consider this heaven. he certainly doesn't. he rather enjoyed Sternbild, especially if it means he can help shape Sternbild in Maverick's eyes. that is why he can't remain here. he attempts to keep him mind off of that as he listens to kotetsu. it seems that there are more powers involved in this than he'd initially thought... which is a downer, really. how insignificant can the ( ... )
