( It’s not like he’s never seen this kind of phone before - in fact, he considers it to be somewhat outdated. But he’s curious - what has happened to his cellphone? While he has an idea of who may have been behind this - that is, Kotetsu - he assumes that this is the only way he can get into contact with him. And if that’s the case, he’ll give his

Would you mind telling me what a hero from Sternbild City does, exactly? I have noticed that there are several around and am rather curious.

Well, many things - we something like a higher form of law enforcement; we catch crime, save the innocent and maintain order... with the occasional mix of community service. Our heroics are broadcasted live as well. I suppose it just makes us a group of policemen with superpowers...
( BASICALLY anyway. )

My name is N.
[these heroes sound like team plasma's worst nightmare to be honest. thankfully N isn't an underground crime lord anymore so he doesn't have any reason to be apprehensive or reserved around barnaby.]
That actually sounds quite interesting! Are you all part of the police force of the city or do you act independently like vigilantes of sorts?

It's a pleasure to meet you, N. ( he thinks for a moment. ) We're not exactly a part of the police force, although the public recognises us as "Heroes," not "policemen." I wouldn't say that we act independently either... it's... complicated. We're owned by sponsoring companies and the live broadcast is actually a television show, although everything featured is real life. I'm not sure if I'm making sense.

[that sounds totally weird but totally awesome! it's kind of a smangin' idea to N.]
I see... Is your aim to protect or to entertain? Or is it an decision each hero must decide for themselves? It sounds terribly interesting; I wish we had televisions here in Zodion. I would love to see this show.

Television would be nice, but it seems that the network can sometimes be more entertaining. I'm sure someone will come up with some way to entertain, though. Unfortunately that kind of show wouldn't exist here - I've heard that it's really quiet here.

It's true, isn't it? Many people have likened the video feature to television. I personally would still like to see it simply for the experience but I find that this network does a good job at keeping one occupied.
You are correct though, there is very little crime of which to speak. Which is good, but I'm sure it's something you are not used to.

What kind of world - if I can call it world - did you come from? I've never known the world to be as vast as it is, and it appears that Sternbild is only a small part of something much more.
( sternbild is the city, and he'd never thought it'd get much bigger than that. but then again... there's so much he still needs to learn. )
It's like some sort of social network. I've never indulged in that in Sternbild, but it looks like it's the best way to attain information, as sparse as information seems to be.
I usually have a lot to occupy myself with at home, but it does leave me at a loss when I'm just twiddling my thumbs...

I come from a world where animals are absent and we instead coexist with creatures called Pokémon. Pokémon have existed long before humans have and because they are the ones responsible for creating the world as we know it, I like to believe that over time we have come to build an understanding with one-another.
Truthfully, I do not know much about my own world either, having only explored it recently before I came here, but I can tell you that it is a very peaceful place. There is very little crime and there have been very, very few wars as well. It is a peaceful and happy place to live.
[fandom secret: N is rapunzel, having been confined to his room up until a few months ago, where he embarked on a journey, fell in love with a dashing brunette who changed his life forever, and lost the only family he's ever known who was kind of abusive anyway so it shouldn't matter to him as much as he does. it's like he got shit right out of tangled and instead of pascal, he has zoroark ( ... )

I'm sure you'll have plenty of time to return to your home to do so... the situation we have at hand is unfortunate, but I believe there's an end to everything, even if it seems aimless at times.
( and he can relate to that personally. it took him twenty years in order to find out who his parents murderers are... and finally, finally he's gone. although he doesn't quite have the closure he needs quite yet, it's enough to keep him content and distracted.
he laughs lightly. )
I can't be shy even if I wanted to. You have to get used to the camera on you while you're working, after all. ( and then a sigh. ) I'd guess my next step is to find another job for the time being.

Optimism is good to have in a situation like this. There is no point dwelling on that which we cannot change, correct?
[haha take your own advice N.]
All we can do is hope for the best until we gain another lead that may help us find a means to escape.
[anyway.]
Yes, I imagine it would be next to impossible to excel in your line of work if you were shy. You have to interact with many people because of your status as a hero, do you not? As for other jobs, there are many here to choose from so I do not doubt that you will be able to find one with ease.
