So... [kon is sitting in his newly assigned quarters, vaguely irritated, and having just tossed his orchid out the window.] I'm Shinonome Kon. I'm an Aquarius [he'd show his palm to the camera, but as he's currently holding the stupid thing, he just frowns]. I like books and overpriced tobacco.

I don't like ending up in places I didn't plan on being ( Read more... )

Hello, N.

[what a cheerful guy! levity! levity is always a good thing in situations like this.]

It's a constellation. The symbol that showed up on my hand is the sign of Aquarius. I don't know why, though.

Oh? I, too, have found a symbol upon myself that was not there before. This--

[give him a moment as he removes his bangles (he has to do this a lot...) before he moves the camera to his wrist. the symbol of pisces (♓) is there, sure enough.]

I don't know what it means. Is it related to your Aquarius, perhaps?

[he moves the camera back to his face.]

Yeah, actually, that's Pisces. It's supposed to be two little fish tied together. [you want copious amounts of potentially inane information? you've come to the right place.] They're both part of a time measurement system called the zodiac. Your constellation changes depending on when you were born. Aquarius is the sign for people born between January 21 and February 19. Pisces is the sign right after that, from Febuary 20 to March 20.

The zodiac, you say? Very interesting.

[this is so okay with N, he soaks this shit up like a sponge.]

The zodiac where I am from was based upon a formula involving one's birthdate and year to find the corresponding Pokémon. It was not based on constellations, so that is why these names are unfamiliar to me.

It's probably something that's specific to a certain world. [which makes it interesting to find it here]

What are Pokémon?

That must be the case since, in theory, if we all arrived from the same world, we should be able to recognize the unchanging stars.

[oh well!! N wasn't allowed outside so it's not like he'd know either way.]

Pokémon are comparable to animals, which are absent in my world. They come in many different species and breeds. They are often kept as pets, but their most prolific use is in battle.

Have you traveled to different worlds before, then? [he must have, right? to learn about animals. jeez, it was looking like this sort of thing wasn't so unusual after all]

Like cockfights? [not that it's his place to cast aspersions on the cultures of different worlds, but that seems a little... intense.]

Me? No. But I have spoken with many people since my arrival here and not a single one knew what a Pokémon was, but all of them mentioned their similarity to animals.

[oh gosh, cockfights? his eyes widen a bit but he's quick to calm down with a shake of his head.]

No. The purpose of a battle is so that Pokémon and their trainers may better understand each other. The intent is usually friendly.
