Hello, Faize Sheifa Beleth. Welcome to Zodion. I am afraid this is no prank; there are many people from countless different worlds here also charged with the task of saving the cosmos or what have you.

... Hello. [ he tries to smile, but it doesn't really work. ] That is troubling, to say in the least, although I still can't say I understand why I was one of the chosen. If this is some form of punishment, I will accept it, but as I've said already, if it's saving the cosmos then I can think of a number of people who would do a far better job than I would. Do you know if there's some sort of common denominator involved, a type of trait or circumstance that happens to unite the group of us?

[his own smile is a sad one; after having dealt with the gods' latest trial, the idea of arriving here being some kind of sordid punishment has been something worth contemplating lately, but tries not to pay any mind to it at this point. there have been positive aspects of his visit, right? right.]

I know not what common thread links us all or why all of us were chosen, but I myself cannot help but wonder why we all in particular were taken. If it is indeed a form of punishment, I would like to think they would make us aware of this fact but it is hard to tell with the Twelve at times.

It is a possibility I cannot deny. It certainly seems that way, at any rate, what with the tricks they inflict upon us.

As desolate as it sounds, however, I do not think we should lose faith in the hope that we may escape someday.

... I'm not sure that I have any reason to wish for the possibility escape. While I'm far from happy with the circumstances, I have no home to return to - and even if I did, I would have no right to it. If anything, I should simply be grateful that I even have claim to my own life, although I suppose "have claim to" might be a bit of a stretch in a place like this. I must say, the concept of worshiping is... not something that I am prepared for.

[ he averts his gaze, unable to look at n through the camera. this is so awful........ ]

[he watches faize with big grey eyes, taking in the sadness and all of its genuine beauty as a pain N knows all too well. he thinks he could understand faize if that sentiment truly comes from the heart. however, it seems that unlike N, faize acknowledges the weight of his crimes. for such courageousness, the king offers the other man a small and forlorn smile.]

I understand.

[the honesty in his voice is raw.]

I, too, have no place which I can comfortably call home, nowhere I can return to.

[he makes a thoughtful noise as if weighing the conviction of his words.]

But there is someone I wish to see again, a person who has changed my life whom I must face once again. Even if I have no home, that alone is waiting for me, and for this I must never lose hope.

Surely, there is something similar waiting for you? Even if our wills are called into question, we must stand by our convictions, few as they may be, and do whatever it takes to survive to realize these dreams of ours.

[ n's words resonate somewhere deep within him and faize is likely unaware of just how crestfallen he looks, the sadness in his eyes more than palpable even through the video feed. he feels as if this stranger, this person he has yet to even learn the name of, has seen right through him and thoroughly dissected him, voiced thoughts that he hadn't even known he'd had but had still undoubtedly been his. he'd hardly allowed himself the time to stop and reflect on it, he had known it'd be painful - and it is. his fingers absently find the hem of his cloak and squeeze gently at the fabric, gaze still unwavering. n is the courageous one... ]It... It would seem that you do understand, more than I am even able to voice. Although I do not believe I have the right to such a wish, there is someone I want to follow again, someone I want to continue to chase after. No apology for my actions could ever suffice, I know, and yet... I still wish. Until meeting him, I'm not quite sure I ever even fully realized the extent of my own dreams and ideals.

[the sadness hurts to behold, and if N could he would reach into his screen and perhaps touch faize's hand to reassure him that whatever needles are ripping at his ventricles and making his heart hurt, it will pass and he will be alright in the end.]

It sounds like you have a very strong bond with him. He must be quite important to you.

[a small and distant smile as he remembers touya with fondness, and he wonders briefly if this is the same pain faize is feeling. in a way, N knows he is projecting his own wishes onto faize, but seeing his smile is somewhat cathartic and gives him hope.]

If he is anything like how you have described him, it is doubtless that he too should want to see you again. You still have many truths you two must confirm with one-another, correct? If he will do whatever it takes to meet with you, a precious friend, once again, then you must do the same until you are reunited.

[ he nods, finally glancing up to meet n's gaze directly. n's own smile is somehow reassuring, not in the bright and bold way that edge's always was or even in the purely soft, innocent way like lymle's, but in a way that's gentler, more subdued but somehow calming all the same. he can see something in n's expression, too, see the same sort of longing and admiration he feels, himself, and faize feels understanding if anything. it's not every day that you meet someone who changes your life in such drastic ways. ] Perhaps you are right. I'll do the best I can, to make sure that his efforts do not go to waste... even if I still do not quite understand why those efforts would be expended on me, he's sure of himself, if anything. For as long as I've known him, I've always strived to become more of a man like him... Though it might seem hopeless now, I shouldn't quit. It seems that your own resolution is strong, as well... I can't help but feel a great deal of admiration for you.

I can understand your feelings, for I too have someone who has changed my life. He is a determined and bright spirit whom I know, no matter where I go or what I do, we will always be connected in some way. While I can assure you I am nothing even close to admirable, I will admit that my resolution is quite strong, but I owe it entirely to the person who has shifted my point of view for without him, I would be nowhere near the person I am right now.

[even if the permeating sadness is still palpable in the flickers of life in faize's eyes, N still feels uplifted and liberated from seeing him strengthen in the face of his old demons. he won't ask, knows better than to tread upon such uncertain and discomforting ground, and instead obliges faize with another soft smile.]
