I guess it is a little alarming. There certainly isn't the same degree of respect for women's rights. My friends Liam and Andrew were of the opinion that I should have clocked the guy, but hitting an old man in front of a crowd of his fans would not have been a wise move. The notion that women should be submissive is still quite prevalent here, so I did the best I could given the cultural constraints. I had to laugh at the time, though, because being upset or angry wouldn't have changed anything. Not that sexual harassment is a laughing matter, but you learn after a while that if you don't laugh at some of the crazy things you encounter overseas, well, you'll just end up making yourself crazy.

On another note, I may be back within the next 2 months. I think I have had enough of Abuja and financially things are not great. I'll be sure to stop by when I do drag my ass back home, though I'll likely be a bit of a recluse for a while. I still shudder at the thought of leaving behind the warmth and sunshine of Nigeria.
