Nate was casually minding his own business when a blur of pink ran past him. Instead of heading into the coffee shop, curiosity got the better of him. He turned the corner and stopped in his tracks.
"Did I just witness a felon? This seems like pretty serious business."
When Zoey looked up she was still a little breathless from laughing so hard. It took her a second to piece together what he was saying.
"I think there has to be a certain price before it's a felony. This is just fancy construction paper." She spun the giant pink atrocity a bit, marveling at how much smaller it seemed when it was hanging in the cafe.
"I have no idea what I'm going to do with this..."
"I'll burn it!" She sounded entirely too gleeful about that but waved the heart pretty soon after. "Actually, that's too messy."
For a moment or two, Zoey had to think up a legitimate reason for her actions. Sometimes, being impulsive was a giant pain. Finally, she set her most serious expression; it was actually fairly fierce.
"I'm protesting the mass commercialization of romantic entanglements."

"Why'd you take it, anyway?"
