Being Human Details

Being Human Details (aka I'm resisting the urge to write fannish love letters to Andrew Purcell):

This is really nerdy, but a week or so ago I caught myself wondering where Hal obtained ( the exercise bike that's in his room. (photos under the cuts) )

OMG! I didn't remember that either. XD
I love that this house is a former hotel, so there is a lot of interesting stuff lying around. I wish they'd shown more of it. :(

Me too! I wish more of the current series took place in the house instead of the hotel, but alas. I'm pretty content with what they have shown us of the house in the the last couple seasons though. Despite the fact that nearly all of the contents were there when everyone moved in, it still somehow seems more personal/character driven than the sets/spaces on many television shows (granted, that might not actually be true and is perhaps just a personal bias since the set on this show has caught my attention, but still)

I don't like the hotel at all tbh. I like Hal and Tom in suits, but at the same time I miss the cafe from series 4. It's nice that they have a better job, but the hotel as a setting annoys me for some reason. And then there's Hatch. XD
I like houses as a setting for TV-shows. F.ex. the house in Charmed was pretty much a character in its own right and it was always arguably easy to figure out which room was where. Not to mention I just find it incredibly pretty. Buffy's house appeared more and more often in later seasons too. On the one hand, it's great that the new BH trio isn't hiding in the house. They have lives and try to maintain a semblance of normality, which is wonderful. But at the same time I sort of miss the more "domestic" atmosphere of earlier seasons. Kind of like what Annie said: we were safe here while outside the monsters prowled. IDK if it makes sense. XDDD

The cafe was a more interesting setting than the hotel in my opinion, at least visually. I liked the size of the space and the vague NYC themed decor and the chalk menu a lot. I imagine they probably found the size/scope of the cafe a bit limiting, especially as compared to an entire hospital or hotel, and I do like Hal and Tom in suits as well, but I agree. I miss it.

And I'm with you on houses as a favorite setting for TV shows. I never watched Charmed, but I agree on Buffy's house, and I miss the more domestic atmosphere on BH this season a lot. The fact that I have no idea if Alex has claimed a specific space in that house as her own really bothers me ( ... )
