ウザイ

Meaning: annoying; a bother

Example: あの先生まじうざいんだけど。[That teacher is seriously annoying.] ／　掃除うざ～！ [What a pain, cleaning!]

Just curious...is it a contraction of "urusai?" Kinda sounds like it.

Yes, I think so. It holds a more wider and eviler meaning, though. Although it can used to mean うるさい too.

Ahaha, but if you suddenly do say it to someone who knows Japanese they might get offended... Never say this word to a teacher in their face. o_O But I'm sure people who aren't fluent would just be confused and think of it as a contraction of うるさい.

Another form is うざったい、also since a famous murder incident recently by a young girl who said it, うざったたい too, was popular for a while.

「ラジオで一般教書演説聞いたけどブッシュなんかうざいよねまったく…」
