Something slightly different. Too many medicine related-posts recently, so I thought it time for a change of pace. Plus I get to play with the whole cut option (pictures included, keeps the friends page tidy).
A Warcraft friend pointed out Ravelry to me (dorky squared...), and I've spent way too much time poking around on it. The upside, of course, is that I've stumbled across an incredible resource for the whole knitting-as-hobby thing. There are a lot of really good knitters out there, and they seem happy to share advice and their neat ideas. Also? Tons of things which elicit an "oooo, pretty."
But, must be good and not start ten zillion new projects at once: so I spent some time using the site to organize all my project, yarns, tools, etc. Very handy for keeping track - with pictures, too! So I decided to have two projects going for the time being, and have a few more queued up with the pattern and the yarn both in my craft box.
The first one is the Fan and Cable afghan I started in college.
It's ginormous, but the new goal is to finish it up so that a.) I can snuggle under it when it gets cold again, and b.) I can have something portable to take on flights during interview season
Second project is another pair of socks! They're small and fun and I'm not quite sure why it's so exciting. Haven't taken a picture of them yet (mine are a few inches long), but they should look something like this (only a nice heathery gray).
The pattern was free on Ravelry (med student likes free), and socks are really portable. They only take one ball of yarn and 5 teeny needles, which means throw 'em in a purse and you're set. Long flight? Layover? No problem.
