I came home from my exam and had hoped to watch some light TV before bed. Instead, I am watching online news reports about the Virginia shooting.

When I read the news story I was horrified that the first shooting had happened in a residence. The fact that the Residence Advisors were used by the university to implement the emergency measures made the ( Read more... )

I think the news report is getting it a little mixed up. The chains were on the doors, not the people being shot, from what I heard. The shooter walked into the building, chained several of the exits, then started going to classrooms.

Ugh, it's times like these I'm so glad I decided to stay close to home in a relatively small city...

...but then I think about how Blacksburg isn't all that different from Ottawa, and how VT is the same size as UofO, and it's scary again.

I was actually thinking about you earlier today when they were talking about RAs. This situation has been upsetting me a lot lately, especially with people I know online who went to the school or currently go there.

One thing, I know you wrote your post a while ago, and they've been talking about how it wasn't the shooter's girlfriend...how the shooter barely even talked to ANYONE. It's so creepy. He had roomates in 2005 who said that the entire year they knew him, he didn't have any friends or visitors at all. The stuff on CNN's website is driving me crazy.
