I've been borderline-obsessed w/ El Caminos since sometime in highschool. In middle school, it was bat-wing Caddies, in HS, Elkies. I grew out of the Cadillac phase, but not so much the Elkies

There is hope!fieryredheadNovember 21 2006, 15:26:52 UTC
I had a camaro once and I as well had to sell it. But get this. Years later I get an email from the kid that bought it. He totally restored it to even better than it was new and it's happily running around still as I type this. I hope you have the same experience I did.
My father restored lots of old cars in Maryland but when we moved down here ages ago, he suddenly found himself working a lot of overtime at his job. This left no time for car restoration. So, the 1966 Plymouth Fury convertible with 383 that was in pretty good shape when we arrived ended up rusting away. Then the same thing happened to the 1966 Plymouth Fury hardtop (pancreatic cancer is caused by an overabundance of stress and these incidents drove my mom crazy!). So now, it's starting to happen again with my father's cherished 1963 Impala SS- the car that he built the house around. It had to get moved out of the garage when the ceiling fell in during the hurricanes, but hasn't been moved back in since (despite ceiling being fixed). He's had tons of offers, but won't sell. Me and my sister are begging him to because the car's almost in perfect condition and he'll get lotsa cash. But his attachment's just too strong... I'm gonna pass on your story to him and see if it helps change his mind.
I hope you can at least convince him to move the Impala back in the garage. If we had a garage & didn't move every year or 3, I don't think I ever would have sold La Camina. Unfortunately, sitting out in the elements was *not* kind to her. :(
Ah, the Plymouth Fury! I had an '81 Fury back in the mid-late 90's & loved it. I can only imagine how awesome a '66 Fury must be! :D
