'Are you listening?'
'Yes,' said Tiffany.
'Good. Now... if you trust in yourself...'
'Yes?'
'...and believe in your dreams...'
'Yes?'
'...and follow your star...' Miss Tick went on.
'Yes?'
'...you'll still get beaten by people who spent their time working hard and learning things and weren't so lazy. Goodbye.'The previous post was about dreams. But ( Read more... )

If you want to improve your writing and want honest feedback, why don't you join a writing course? I did some years back, and it really helped -- the others didn't know much about SF or Fantasy, so I really got a lot of practice with my exposition parts. ;)

I have done a writing course a few years back, but was wholly unimpressed. I hadn't learned anything from it and I also feel it was a bit directionless.
I don't even remember if there was any course material (there probably was). The only thing I remember, was that everybody had to write a short story each week, which was then discussed in class. Only the first story, that was picked, was discussed extensively and then there was no time left to really say anything meaningful about any other story. Other people didn't mind that so much, but I did.

In other words: tried it, but didn't work. It could very well be, that I'd have a more positive experience with a different group. But so far I haven't really felt the desire.

Hmm, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with it. My course was a bit better in that respect -- there was enough time devoted to everyone's works. But then again, we got short writing exercises, and only later on started working on a continuing story.

go for it!

And I hope you find an audience for this! I no-one wanted to look at my drawings and animations that would be a mayor blow in my motivation to create.

Sure, we enjoy doing it for the art itself.
But we enjoy it even more if people say nice things about it. We're only human. ^_^
