I had the problem with my main character being really uninteresting. I think I try to make my main characters too nice... she's getting better, though.
Yeah, evil is usually more interesting. I can write evil better, too. :D
Well, that's what I meant. My main character, stuff just happens to her, and she responds passively.
The world she lived in was pretty boring, too. As I'm fleshing it out more, everything becomes more interesting, really.
You're linking me to TV Tropes and I'm not falling for it! I need to clean my room. :P (I'm just catching my breath now. And mentally preparing for the spiders. ... Yeah.)
Well, you still want your heroes to be a bit sympathetic. Sure, Evil is always gonna be more interesting. But the hero should at least look a lil' nice by comparison.
My issue really was that my main character really does nothing in the first part of the book. Instead, stuff just 'happen' to her to turn her life around. So I had to intervene to avoid following the complete Farmgirl trope.
Well, it's actually not that spectacular just yet. I try to keep it simple, non-epic and not completely worked out. I think the Nanowrimo will be more managable and fun that way. ^_^
But I'd be happy to tell you more about it in person?
