The first book in the series was superb. I am just reading the third book at the moment and while the sequels don't have quite as much punch as the first, the series itself seems to be of a pretty high standard and the author seems to be fairly well regarded for his other work too.
My last three posts in this community have been about zombie books for the 'young adult' market. There seems to be plenty of good stuff available at the moment if you have kids that can be tempted by this stuff. The Charlie Higson series that started with 'The Enemy' have been my favourite though - seven books and they are all cracking fun.
