New mod checking in :) + Schedule + Round 3 Info & FAQ

Aug 06, 2012 02:33

Hi everybody :) The lovely primreceded has taken me on since she won't have much time for running communities for the time being, so I'm just getting things sorted to open sign ups!

Posting Schedule

The schedule for round 3 will be as follows:

Signs ups open: August 10th
Sign ups end: August 20th
Story rough draft due: October 23rd
Art* claiming: October 25th
Final drafts due: November 10th
Posting starts: November 15th

Rules:

1. All fandoms are welcome, including RPF.
2. AUs/Crossovers/Sequels + Prequels are all welcome
3. Stories must be at least 5,000 words in length by the rough draft due date. Stories must also be complete with a beginning, middle and end. You can of course work on it (i.e., make changes or additions) after the rough draft due date, but the story must be a completed rough draft by September 12th
4. Stories should be new for the challenge. WIPs are welcome as long as you have at least 4,000 new words added.
5. Artists may create art at their own discretion. If the artist chooses to get author feedback, that's fine. But they may create whatever they like. However, we do ask that you please contact your author within a week of receiving their information. While it is up to you what you create, communication in this challenge is the key. It is important that authors know that you are on top of things. And vice/versa of course, authors make sure you email your artist as well!
6. Stories must feature zombies in some way. There doesn't have to be an apocalypse, but at least one zombie should be present at some point. Comedy, horror, tragedy, whatever. As long as there's a zombie.

FAQ

1. Can we write more than 1 fic? Yes, you can! Just remember to sign up for each fic separately.

2. Can I sign up as an author and an artist? Please do.

3. Are co-authors allowed? Yes.

4. I'm going to be out of town on __ what should I do about it? Let a mod know in a comment or email what days you will be away from the internet. If you will be gone when rough drafts are due, you can either have someone send it for you or you can send it before the draft date.

5. What kind of art can I make? Anything you like! Fanmixes, banners and wallpapers, drawings and sketches... whatever your medium of choice is.

6. Can I link to a flocked post? Please don't. We want everyone to be able to read your story and see the artwork, so it must be opened. However, you don't have to limit yourself to posting at LJ. AO3, Dreamwidth, your own website - you can certainly post to any of these.

7. I have an artist from another challenge, can I ask them to work with me on this one? You sure can! Please have them sign up in the artist sign up post with a note that they'll be working with you.

Additional suggestion: This is not a rule, but more of a friendly suggestion. There are quite a few readers of fic out there who enjoy downloading and reading your stories on an ereader; Whether they're someone who for health reasons can't sit for long periods of time or are otherwise handicapable, or just someone who likes reading books on their Kindle/Nook/etc. So we here at zombiebang would like to ask you to think about offering an HTML or RTF file for download when you post your fic. With the option of HTML or RTF it's giving the reader the opportunity to format it for whatever their reading device of choice is, whereas a PDF file is not supported by all. You may also want to consider archiving your work at the AO3, which offers a downloading option at no extra steps for you as well as ensuring the download file will never expire. This is not a requirement to post, you do not have to do this in order to participate in this challenge. We're just putting this out there for you to think about for the benefit of your fellow fen.

If you have any more questions, feel free to comment, message a mod or email us at zombiebang@hotmail.co.uk
