Also, for those of you not up on the mainstream arm of the grody ska scene, Sublime with Rome is... the band Sublime but with a new lead singer (Rome). This is because the former lead singer (Bradley) died in 1996 of a heroin overdose.
1996!
Sublime was JUSSST launching into ridic main stream success and it was, all in all, quite a blow to the scene (to say nothing of Bradley's loved ones, obviously). So Eric Wilson (bass) and Bud Gaugh (drums) laid relatively low for OVER A FUCKING DECADE, and then played a show in 2009 as Sublime with this dude called Rome filling in for Brad. Bradley's estate sued on the grounds that "Sublime" meant a band with Brad in it, and, well
So it's Sublime WITH ROME now.
A lot of people dislike Rome. Given that these people love Sublime, they obviously are attached to Bradley, so, I mean, understandable.
BUT GUYS

This is Rome. Well, in the middle.
It helps, I think, that Rome is full on Mexican-American, which I dig. I mean, he looks like what EVERY dude I meant to middle school in Miami with grew up to be.
At least, all the boys I was friends with.
Granted, there's a self selection thing going on there. I was friends with the punkier latin boys. And obviously in my posse we were all wicked hella nerdy.
As a result, Rome seems super familiar to me and so I'm predisposed to like him. Also, I honestly prefer his sound? So there's that.
