A quick note on The Hunger Games: I, hater of all trendy lit, read the first book two weeks before the movie came out. Liked it. Loved the gender role reversal. Saw the movie. Also loved it. Stayed in and marathoned the last two books on Monday and am now absolutely in love. Will post more about this, um, at some point?
(
fic ideas I probably will not write; cut for series spoilers )

He gets to make at least one joke that made me crack up in the movie, so there's that. And he gets a fight scene! And his half delirious love confessions are kind of fun.

And give Peeta a break, he might not be a good warrior, but he sure mastered the art of the cockblock...live, on TV.
Seriously.

Also, I love that Peeta gets a fucking wrestling scene in the movie. FUCK YES. I mean, the book mentions that he's big/stocky/strong and good at hand to hand, but he never gets to use it? And in the movie he's just like SINGLE LEG TAKEDOWN, EAT CORNUCOPIA, BITCH.
I mean, he still loses that bout, buuuut. No shame to losing to Cato.

"Mockingjay is just one testicle-kick after another, almost always at the end of each chapter.
'We run into the burning building and there are baby pandas on fire being raped by President Snow.' End of chapter 17."

I actually really liked Snow. hahah. um.
I feel so bad for [character redacted] throughout the whole fucking book, though. POOR BB. but kind of poor everyone.
it ends well, though. i mean, stylishly and artistically sound.
THE BABY PANDA ON FIRE.

What am I doing? I'm shipping a canon ship, for Pete's sake. I rarely do that. It's the role reversal, I think. Katniss as the badass warrior who pwns all, and Peeta as the sensitive cake decorator. Hey, someone has to decorate the cakes.

And I knnnow, I never ship a cannon couple, either. Certainly I never like the nice boy. Peeta, what is your deal even.
I'm all over the role reversal, though, yes. I love how Katniss is so physically competent/deadly and overall brutal, to Peeta's sensitivity and intelligence. Though it helps that he's still a manly dude who can lift heavy things; apparently I'm into that.
I love chicks in charge, but I love it even MORE if the chick is in charge of a physically very able dude? Hmm. Anyway, I see a lot of the tropes that usually draw me to m/m in Katniss and Peeta, and that's cool.
AND HE BAKES, HOW GREAT IS THAT. So clearly I need to write the nice sensitive boy half out of his mind and suffering, because that's what I'm into.
