As mentioned in the last post, February has robbed me of the desire to do much of anything beyond just laying/sitting around, so I've been watching a bit of TV. ( Blathering about movies... )

I'd heard a lot of good things about it, but I was still pleasantly surprised. It has such a great feel to it that's hard to explain.

When MOH got home I made him spend a weekend watching all the good movies I thought he had missed in two years -- there were only 5. lol. But "The Station Agent" was one of them.

I think I'll netflix Intermission. I could use some hilarious. The best movie I've watched recently was one from a few years ago -- Brazil's "City of God," which if you haven't seen I highly recommend. It's brutal and violent but just an excellent story and beautifully filmed. Just don't watch it with your mom like I did. Kind of embarrasing. Not a movie for a lady to watch -- and my mom is a lady.

Be forewarned that Intermission isn't totally a comedy, but it does have some very funny parts. There's a bit at the beginning that actually really catches you off guard.

I actually watched City of God with Matt the summer before I left, I think. That was with the kid who took pictures, right? Matt loved it, but I just felt depressed after watching it. I just can't get geared up to watch movies that I know are depressing and sad. I need escapism. Take me away from my dreary every day existence!

the j girls and i watched Hustle and Flow last night...that movie is so good! I definitely recommend it. (Did you know that it's hard out here for a pimp?) Now Elizabethtown, that's another story. How is it possible that Zach Braff can make a movie using roughly the same premise that's 10 times better than Cameron Crowe's?? The MMJ was nice, but wasn't enough to hold the movie together, that's for sure.
