Can someone explain the Arctic Monkeys hype to me? I've heard the song a lot, but it doesn't seem especially interesting, different, earth-shattering, or anything else that would justify the way every DJ or music magazine seems to be drooling and fawning over them. i really like the single. maybe because it mentions dancing like a robot to electropop? or maybe because i first heard it while i was out dancing with friends. haha. who knows, but even though i really love that song, i don't think the hype is well-placed. it's not all that different, really, from what's been done before.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I have nothing against them, I just don't get what the big deal is!

I realize my comment on this is delayed somewhat... But I'm so glad I'm not the only one out there terribly confused by all the hype.

I was actually going to see them last month, but was bribed out of a ticket by someone who's sister was flying in from England for a visit. Not that I cared a great deal... I have heard the CD (preparation to see a band I didn't know) and the music is okay. It's semi-different than what is out, I guess... The only people I know who keep saying they are going to be huge come from England, so maybe they are speaking from that perspective?

This just seemed a little overboard. The dude who cuts my hair was even gushing over them, and I'm hoping that radio payola hasn't infiltrated Super Cuts.
