A Confession

I have never read a complete work by H.P. Lovecraft, only portions of one thing or another when lounging around at other peoples homes. I have decided to remedy this, and I am looking for a good place to start. Does anyone have any particular favorites? Are there any real crapfests one might do best to avoid ( Read more... )

Mhm - there's a collection of shorts called "The Shuttered Room and other stories" (or something very close to that at any rate). The stories are short enough to read in a sitting, but will still keep you up listening for Lilliputian frog people sneaking under the door.

Wait, you mean waiting for tiny frog people isn't a normal evening activity..... I think my shrink lied to me, that rotting bastard, if he wasn't a figment of my imagination, I would totally fire him. I think I might anyway.

Call of Cthulhu, Shadow Over Innsmouth, and At The Mountains of Madness are probably three of my favorite Lovecraft pieces. There are dozens of softcover collections but I don't think any one volume has all of those stories in it, but you should be able to find one or two them under the same cover.
