I dare you to disagree with me

1) Getting a large tax refund means you are worse off than if your tax refund was small ( Read more... )

1. agreed
2. disagree in almost all instances, though this is in large part due to the fact that I have good quality fresh food at my disposal. If this weren't the case, I'd obviously prefer chemical to rancid.
3. depends on what level, though I'm pretty sure there's a fuckload out there intentionally left unknown or misleading to us serfs.
4. obviously.
5. one day you'll learn that the best rebuttal, is a headbuttal.
6. eh. case by case.
7. see #6.

2. With food, fresh almost always tastes better and is healthier, but preserved is definately 2nd best. People out here get so attached to "preservative free" that they want to mix their own saline nasal spray or contact solution.

3. Yeah, I'm sure there are secrets, but I know from working at the prison that the Federal Government is far too slow, inefficient, and disorganized to mount a conspiracy. Example: I applied for security clearance 2 months before I got there and I didn't get cleared until a good 3 months after I had finished working there.

5. lol

Good to hear from you!

I'm not sure I can follow your thinking on number 7. How can they NOT add up?!

For number 5, I would mostly agree but think that getting 'mad' in a sense can be a motivator which can be in your best interest. But 'mad' in the unreasoning sense isn't the same thing.

I agree on the rest of it!

7) I guess my phrasing there was less than complete. I should've said "the little things don't add up to much".

Here's a good explanation of this concept:

1. I could try to make up some story about how you had some large, unexpected expense right at the time the tax refunds come. But you'll just probably counter by saying that I would have had the money all along, and could even have made some interest off of it with the smaller refund. And you'd be right. Plus, we're all supposed to have like 3 months' salary saved up for emergency situations. So I guess what I'm saying is, I can think of situations where you are better off getting the large refund, but it's only due to poor planning ( ... )

6. Good point, I should revise my statement to say that "Paying it all up front is often less expensive and almost never more expensive than making payments of time".

Thanks!
