I don't really believe in the downward motion of values, or that really expensive superbowl ads would be the place to find consistently great art. It was more intra-cultural shock than anything else. There's a bit of me that thinks "wow, that was a spectacularly expensive waste of time", but who says really expensive things have to be any good? I think enjoying them because they're expensive is probably exactly the level that one should enjoy them, and I don't really expect them to be anything more.
