Going to Coachella '08

So I'm planning on wandering onto the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, CA, this April and overload on 3 days of music and spend each night in a tent amongst the great unwashed and unsober and unquiet. Below are the bands lined up for the festival: those in bold are the ones I want to see and those underlined are those I really really want to see:

wow. that's.. really tempting.

while thinking about it, I'll have to check out the bolded names I don't recognize. and maybe a few of the others as well, though that's an awfully long list to take to itunes.

I say Roger Waters. he's getting old and you might never have a chance to see him again (have you seen him or Pink Floyd ever before?), whereas Gogol Bordello will probably come round again soon. I've seen them and they are a lot of fun, but I wouldn't pass up a chance to see a dinosaur who is actually still worth seeing, especially one who rarely tours anymore.

Yeah, it's heavily sided towards the dinosaur that may go extinct at any time ... and no, I never got to see Pink live (only crowd listeneing was at those plane'arium "laser light shows") - I remember hearing about the floating pig shows, but I was too young and over-protected to have gone to shows in the 70's. Then, shortly after I was able to start seeing the shows I wanted to see, Waters split.

Oddly, what I've seen on-line re: his "Dark Side" tour indicates heavy laser light usage ... could be a welcome-back to memory lane after all!
