I was a bit disappointed by the 30th anniversary show from Einstürzende Neubauten last night. To be fair I wasn't feeling very well and had given some consideration to not going, but their 25th anniversary show was absolutely awesome, and they played loads of my favourite older songs, so I was sure it would be alright in the end

Ah, interesting - you've filled in the gap I had in my setlist. However, I'm damned certain Susej was part of that Rampe before Sabrina, but I could be wrong!

Do you know what the one was where he started singing Halber Mensch? For a moment I thought they were actually going to try to do Halber Mensch, which blew my mind a bit!

that is a somewhat disappointing setlist, I didn't write down the 25th anniversary one, but I'm sure there were many more older songs. Like you I really enjoyed hearing things from Halber Mensch and Haus Der Lüge, there are some good noisy things on Fünf auf der nach oben offenen Richterskala too. Quiet is good, but at gigs we want to dance and possibly be paralysed by the sheer volume (but that could just be me).

Perhaps they don't have the personnel/ installation/instruments necessary to make these songs work any more?

If you click on my link in the post, the setlist is in that post. There were loads from Halber Mensch at that show.

I totally agree, unless it's a seated venue, gigs are for jumping around!

I did wonder that, but it's not that long since they were doing some really old ones, and they're supposed to be doing really old ones tonight.
