mmmkay, "written composition" courses are where they teach you how to write academic papers. I don't think Queen's offers courses like these that would meet the requirement though, but maybe check with the writing centre? (they often offer writing courses by correspondence, not sure if these are the right ones though...) you'll probably be safer with taking a first-year English course. ENGL110 is the standard introductory course that covers all periods from middle English to modern. 112 is a world lit course and I think you get to read The Iliad and Marquez? and 160 is all modern lit--British, American and Canadian. (while you might be tempted to take this one because it's "modern", modern lit is one of the hardest periods I've ever had to study because the themes are so complex)
I say go with 110, it's probably the safest choice for requirements. but talk to an academic advisor first, (you can ask for her number when you phone the registrar) and she'll be able to tell you what to take with more authority.
