Gym tales

I'd been thinking about joining a gym for a while. I feel like I've hit a plateau with my exercise videos (which helped me lose 10 pounds after college, but weren't doing much any more) and with 4 weddings in the next year (and being in two of them!) I decided it was time to ramp up my work ( Read more... )

when i go to the gym ( unfortunately not too frequently!) i usually come in my clothes and go home and shower. there's something about public showers that's way too donner/freshmen year for me. :P But, i also live about 10 min away from the gym at NU, where I go. I don't know if it's harder to do that for you. Re changing in the locker room- i usually just face my locker and go as fast as possible. hehe. (often put my sports bra on over my regular bra before taking it off)... and honestly, you're not looking at anyone, so they're probably not looking at you either, so i wouldn't worry too too much.
its great that you're starting to go! I wish i could but i feel like i always have somewhere to be after working, and by the time i do whatever i was supposed to do, i'm starving and just want to go home!! hehe. how much does gym membership cost (for the days in my not so near future when I will not be associated with a university!)...

Firstly, on locker room ettiquette. It is ok to be naked. It is all women. I wouldn't flaunt the fact, but you do not have to try and keep a towel around you all the time. If you are standing in front of your locker about to put on your underwear, it is ok just to let the towel fall. Now that said don't be one of those people who struts around the locker room naked, but it is ok to be a little naked it is a locker room! Also completely yes on the shower shoes. I went to Walmart and bought a pair for like $2 and it was completely worth it. There is always hair in the drains and it is just kinda icky.

Also way to go. The more you go the better you will get and that is GREAT!

Also as a side note, Matt Silverstien just joined that same BSC if you are looking for someone to work out with.
