While I can't get behind your views on forced sterilization (Trust me, I want to, but I just can't.), I really like the situations and manners in which you'd apply them.
I know that I may seem a bit rabid and radical (and not in the 90's sense of the word) about forced sterilization, but the reasons for my views on it are pretty clear. I've spent the last 16 years seeing the results of parents not being able or not being willing to put their children first (through the foster care system)...not to mention the results of physical, sexual, and mental abuse that the kids have been through and been taught as "normal" upbringing.
I've seen the families that can't support the children they already have pop out 2 or more just to get additional money on their government supplied checks. I've seen the mothers that have lost their first 6 children to the DSS, only to have 2 more while still being addicted to coke or other drugs and having to have those children taken as well.
I've seen the government's way of handling irresponsible breeding by throwing more money at the problem, instead of taking care of the problem where it exists....in the "parents" that are making it worse.
I completely agree with your assessment of the problem. I just can't get behind giving .gov the authority to declare who's fit to breed and who's not. Eugenics is the next step on that slippery slope, and I'm not a fan.
Understood completely. I wouldn't just want some arbitrary committee deciding either. However, if the justice centers could prove the person a liability to the already born children and any future off-spring I don't see sterilizing them any less fitting than long terms of jail time.
At least with sterilization, the perp couldn't pop out any more victims.
