Lamentations for post-partum feet

Since custom orthotics were going to run me $150 out of pocket, I decided to try to fix my feet with arch-building exercises and faux barefootiness. I used the money instead to buy a pair of Vivo Barefoot shoes. It's supposed to be kind of like walking barefoot but with a thin sole to protect you from the elements. My physical therapist told me there's no difference between the $150 orthotics and the $15 ones.

When I went in for my last podiatrist appointment (I had an ingrown nail cut out), the guy glued these thick gauze pads to my feet because he said that's what walking with orthotics would be like. So maybe I should just invest in some thick gauze pads and glue.

I have been wearing Superfeet for the past couple months and I am a fan. They seemed awfully hard the first couple days and my feet hurt, but standing for long periods at work has gotten easier and they seem to have helped my knee as well. They are like $40, though.
