Gordon setter! That is cool! They are lovely, gracious dogs (well, I've only met one, but that was what he was). Mixed with a dachsund, that will only make her better!

You know, I've never seen Big Red, but I read the book a gadjillion times (and every other book by Kjelgaard that I could lay my hands on). I fell in love with Irish setters, and it took me a long, long time to realize that all the common sense has been bred out of them, just as with many purebreds.

I take it The Jay is doing well in her new home, then. Any upswing in Sophie-snobbery?
