It is looking like my computer is dead.

I think that it is the power supply, but I'm not sure.

I really don't want to have to buy a new PC.

It's been a week.

Well, if it doesnt turn on, or any fans on the PS dont come on, it probably is. A new PS could cost you about $50 max Rosewill are ok.

If its a new machine, it should be under warranty

Eh. Definitely no longer under warranty... but thanks.

My concern is that I don't want to go out and buy a new PS... and then find out that the problem is something else... and be out ~$50 and still need to buy a new PC... you know?

Symptoms, for those able to diagnose such things better than I:

1. When I could get it running, the computer would, seemingly randomly, shut down. I think that it mostly happened when the dvd drive was accessed.

2. When it shut down, it wouldn't immediately start up again. Hitting the power button accomplished nothing. I'd have to flip off the power supply and turn it back on again. Even then, unless I let it sit for awhile before I hit the power button again, it would shut down during start-up.

3. Now, it appears that, however long I let it sit, it is shutting down during start-up.

Fun?

No. Not really.

Ok, actually with that stuff. Probably not powersupply...if it was the PS the fans in the PS would not be running and youd get no power ( ... )

Hmmm... on occasion when I try to start it up, it will almost immediately shut down (often even before the RAM check sequence)...
