old television shows

Does anyone remember an ancient drawing show on TV in the vein of Bob Ross's "Joy of Painting" that featured artists drawing primarily surreal alien landscapes? I'm pretty sure it aired on PBS in the 80s. The media (as I recall it) was largely black and white (or maybe that was just my TV), in pencil or ink. What I'm confused about: The arm-bandolier seems to be full. However, there are loops on his other sleeve, and what appear to be crayons sticking out on his lapel. He is also holding an additional crayon.

Just how many crayons does this guy have?
