My bladder infection came back with a vengeance today, almost ten times worse. It woke me up around 7:00am and it was just awful. So I chugged down some more cranberry juice and some pills and wrote a note to my mom on the counter saying that I probably needed to go to the doctor, and then I went back to bed. So, were they testing your urine? There are dipsticks that can be used to perform various chemical tests... increased amounts of nitrite and leukocyte esterase indicates a bacterial infection. Then they can do a microscopic examination and see if bacteria and white blood cells are indeed present. What takes longer are the culture and sensitivity tests... Culture is where they apply the urine to growth media and see what type of bacteria grows. Sensitivity is where they apply the urine to growth media with several types of antibiotics and see which ones best inhibit the growth of the bacteria. (These are all things I learned in my Urinalysis class.)

Ugh..sorry to hear about everything. ;_;
My cousin had awful problems with her hands and they had to do all kinds of bloodwork and bone scans. She ended up having juvenile arthritus.
I'm not sure what else it could be though. O_o

I haven't gotten the extensive blood work it takes to see if I have arthritis. However they took a general one and didnt see any elevation in the blood that would be prevailant if there was the possibility of arthritis-

I still think I should get that extensive test to make sure- hurrmm

urinary infections are the WORST EVER- I hope you never get one!
