Carson tried to bite back the moan, but the sound escaped -- the soft noise followed by a shift beside him, then John was looking down at him.

"You all right?"

Carson nodded, wishing he could curl up against his lover, but knowing that the slightest movement would jar his ribs.

"Liar." John grinned at him, then leaned close and pressed a light kiss against Carson's forehead. "The only reason you got released from the infirmary today instead of tomorrow is because you abused your power as CMO."

"I didn't," Carson protested, even though he knew he had done exactly that. Not that Doctor Syvetsky couldn't have put his foot down and refused; but Carson really was well enough to be home, and he much preferred sleeping at home -- even if he wasn't exactly sleeping.

"Did." There was another kiss, then John moved -- slowly and carefully, so the mattress didn't shift. "It's only been four hours since your last pain pill."

Carson nodded. "I'm fine. I didn't mean to wake you." He peered over, and said, "If someone didn't have the ears of an elf, you'd never have heard me." He watched John roll his eyes, then he reached down and began to rub Carson's forehead, very gently. It didn't take long for Carson's eyes to slip closed. "Using your evil magic on me," he managed, though his words were a bit slurred by the end as he slipped into sleep.

"I know what a snickerdoodle is," Rodney said, glaring and folding his arms.

"All I am saying--" Radek began, and Rodney interrupted. Again.

"All you're saying is gibberish, and you're not getting out of this. You *lost*, and you owe me my forfeit, and no amount of arguing is going to change the fact that *you* *lost*."

"I did *not* lose," Radek said quickly.

"You most certainly did!" Rodney's voice was growing louder, and Radek wondered if he thought he would win this argument by being more annoying, since he couldn't win it by being right.

"I did not," he repeated, stubbornly. As though he couldn't just get access to the security cameras and *show* Rodney that he most certainly lost, and by a wide margin, and he was the one who owed Radek a dozen cookies.

"You think that just because you walked through Atlantis in your...your horse form, that it counts!"

"I am not horse, you did not say it was forbidden, and you are sore loser!" Radek shouted.

"You... YOU!" Rodney waved his arms, then turned to storm off, stopping as he realised that Carson was blocking the doorway. "YOU! This is your fault!"

Carson looked startled. "How is it *my* fault?"

"Because you're standing here, and John's on the mainland so I can't yell at him!"

Carson glanced at Radek, and Radek gave him a quick cute look. Carson rolled his eyes. "I'm going to go away and pretend I don't know either of you." He walked back out of the room, and Radek laughed.

Rodney whirled on him. "You owe me cookies," he said in a tight voice.

"Except you lost," Radek said, and then they were off again, arguing until Rodney's voice gave out.

Abby was startled for a second, then she smiled. "Gibbs! You're here! I didn't expect you-- what's wrong? Is something wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong," Gibbs said quickly, his manner reassuring her that indeed there was nothing really wrong in the world of Gibbs. It didn't reassure her that nothing was *up*.

She narrowed her eyes. "Why are you here? I mean, come in! Come in, want some ...I don't have any coffee, actually. I could get you a red bull?"

"No, thanks." Gibbs grinned, and shook his head. He followed her into the living room, then stopped - not sitting, but still not acting like something was wrong.

Abby folded her arms. "OK, Bossman. Give. What brings you to my domicile at ten p.m. on a Sunday night?"

"I just wanted to pick up something of mine."

"Pick up--" Abby couldn't remember the last time Gibbs was at her place to have left anything. Then she realised what he meant, and didn't even bother wondering how he'd known. She gestured. "He's hiding in the bedroom closet. Do you want me to tell him to change first?" she asked, as Gibbs started walking towards her room.

"That's OK," Gibbs shook his head. "I'll take him like he is."

Abby grinned, and waited. A moment later Gibbs came walking back, with Tony wrapped in a coat. Tony poked his nose out and gave her a betrayed look. Abby just rubbed his little furry head.

"You two play nice," she said, and held the door for them. It wasn't until she'd heard the car leave that she realised that Tony's clothes were still strewn all over the floor.

She figured Gibbs would manage to think of something, though, when Tony finally changed back into human.
