Sanji turned his head away from the calm waters of the Grand Line and blew out a jet of smoke. He didn't like the idea of blowing smoke out over the ocean when the water looked so calm.
"I bet you find that silly, don't you Marimo?" Sanji turned his head to the other side and spoke over top of the sleeping swordsman. Zoro wasn't awake but, then, he never was was he? Seemed to the cook that every second that stupid seaweed head didn't spend training, he spent sleeping.
But it worked to Sanji's advantage. Everyday after lunch Sanji cleaned up and everyone went off to do their own thing. For Zoro that meant a nice long nap. So by the time Sanji was done in the kitchen, Zoro was in a deep sleep and nothing short of a few kicks to the head would wake him up. A few hard kicks. Sanji could talk to Zoro, say all those things he couldn't say when the swoardsmen was awake, without worrying about the consequences. He didn't voice his every thought, or wax poetic to the sleeping man, but it was nice being able to talk to someone. I t was nice to tell Zoro that one little thing that always hung around in the back of Sanji's mind.
"Well, Marimo, I can't hang around here forever." The cook stubbed out his cigarette and immediately lit a new one. He looked around just to check no one was listening in and whispered, "I love you Zoro." Sanji turned on his heel and with his back to Zoro walked off towards the kitchen to start working on dinner. He didn't see Zoro crack his eye open and watch the cook walk away. As soon as the door swung shut he got to his feet.
"Oh you stupid love cook," Zoro shook his head and laughed lightly, "I love you too." He stuck his hand in his pockets and sighed. "You would know that, if you could just say it to my face." The swordsman turned and walked away, already looking forward to tomorrows conversation.
