Oh, hell, they should be hunting those guys until the last one who was of legal age is caught or is beyond justice. "Never forget" is a good place to start *from*. At this point, all you can do is tag them, maybe strip them of all but the bare minimum they need to live, and make sure that everyone knows who they were. We do at least that much for sex offenders.
Angola Prison in Louisiana and a few other places used to have "hotboxes" where they'd make the prisoner stand up in the heat of day.
Funny thing, last night I was watching some stupid show about haunted houses and ghost hunters. They were convinced the attic was haunted because of some bumping noises. I figured there were a lot of places, Auschwitz being one of them, that were much more likely to be haunted if ghosts were real. Though Auschwitz has haunted the whole planet, in one sense.
Yes, I agree that if Switz isnt haunted, then nowhere is.
Still, never forget is not about punishment -should we forget what was done after everyone who could possibly be held responsible is certainly dead? Milgrave experiment, and some others, suggest we could all be this bad. Shit, we must be, how could this otherwise have happened? Suddenly a bunch of people who had no conscience nor compassion just happened to be born, and were neatly hanged after the war? Not likely. This is a facet of human nature, apparently, and while I would be so much happier knowing nothing about it, we now know. I think the "never forget" is about knowing that it is in human nature to do these things, and to make double sure we never again will.
I am not so sure we wont. After all, people sometimes treat one another as vermin still. Been losing a lot of sleep over it lately. I guess it is haunted, after all, in the sense you mentioned.
