Sadly it was already this way anyway. All they did with this is say that the police can violate state law and let stuff in.
When police search without a warrant, they have to prove that it falls within an accepted exception to a warrant. One such exception is extingent circumstances. That means whenever something could disappear before a warrant could be obtained. Under the supreme court, this was interpreted to mean that if its in car, it's too mobile and thus ok to search without a warrant.
