trip to Kennywood, J's vocabulary, and B's quirkiness

May 08, 2006 21:47

Yesterday, D and I loaded the kids into the car and went to Kennywood! They just opened the park over the weekend, and it was a nice if somewhat cold day, but we had a really good time. B is a daredevil, like her parents, and if J's bored expression at riding the Little Phantom is any indication, so is he :) He laughed on the Little Whip though, so ( Read more... )

MiniPlu does that language thing with me, too. I'll tell her, after a potty trip, to "pull your pants up" - meaning her underwear. But she'll correct me, every time. "They're not pants, it's underwear."

"Oooooh shit. Is there any chance my invsibility charm is working and you can't see me?"

LOL.

And awww for "I yaya". Of course, a friend's little brother meant "Cheerios" when he said "yaya" and they still sometimes refer to that cereal as "Yayas" so I'm more amused that in your household it means something TOTALLY different. :D

How adorable that yayas are Cheerios :) As for the incorrect word usage stuff, it's so cute, isn't it? The only other person who used to give me so much crap about using the wrong word was an ex-boyfriend and those incorrect words would inevitably lead to an argument. I thought I'd gotten past having to pay attention to every word that came out of my mouth, but I guess not!

Emma always corrects me when I use the wrong word for something. She even notices if I use different words in the lullby I sing her every night. She's 4 1/2, which I believe is close in age to B.

Regarding I yaya... that is just so incredibly cute.

Elia

Yes, B is 5 so they are very close in age. And B does the same things with books too like with the lullaby. "It's not or, Mommy, it's because." Our kids should start up their own little Language Police.

Your kids sound like such a joy. My little sister is a stickler as well, but at 9 years old she's progressed to saying things like 'Mom, you know I take things literally.'
