Cholesterol

Mid February, I'd gone in to my doctor's office to get some general blood work up done. (I'd been worried that some of my ADD meds might be doing something bad to me.)

I checked out basically okay except that:
1) I was 215 lbs, the heaviest I'd been at a checkup
2) My cholesterol was at 237 (HDL 33/LDL 150)

I have a family history of heart disease; a heart attack is what killed my paternal grandfather. While we're at it, my maternal grandmother died from a number of complications brought on by diabetes. So neither one of these numbers was good.

The cholesterol number was particularly disturbing as it had been 164 (LDL 106) in about the middle of 2003; the last time I'd been tested.

In the beginning of March, at about the time I lost my job, I started working on this. I've radically redone my eating, trying to eliminate most (if not all) saturated fats from my diet, and trying to make most (if not all) of the carbs I get high fiber, low glycemic index.

I went in to see my doctor on the the 5th of this month. I'd been working on getting myself back in shape for about a month.
My weight was down to 203.
I also got my cholesterol tested.
Got those numbers back last night.

164 (HDL 35/LDL 127)

All in all pretty good for a month's work I think.
