OK, first of all: reframe. This is a fantastic opportunity. How many language students do you know who have someone in their family who has a PhD in their language?
Secondly: F teaches at uni, and most likely she comes across first years far more clueless than you (if you think about it, even continuing first years would only have had a couple of months' more tuition than you currently have had, and most of them wouldn't have been to Germany!)
Thirdly: we're family, and notwithstanding that Dad does not seem to get this, the goal of helping out your family is not to make them feel inferior. Also, F is awesome and sweet, and I don't think this is her goal for anyone!
Fourth and last: you are awesome. OK so there are a bunch of things you don't know. If that were not the case, why would you be studying? ("Only those who are dirty need to wash")
