as it turns out, everyone's their own personal advertising executive. and so i've been thinking a lot about a different strategy for internet self-promotion. i'm setting up a website, for instance, creating a portfolio of my collages and things in the hopes of getting some sort of economic validation for my little hobby. i'm thinking of casting ( Read more... )

I run into this issue frequently. My mom bullied me into creating a "wedding website," with links to registries and everything, which makes sense I suppose. But now it has my name, and my fiance's name, and his last name, which will soon be my last name, and our mailing address, and our wedding date, and I'm just starting to get a little paranoid. This is to say nothing of the times that my publicized personal thoughts have gotten me into trouble.

It frustrates me that the internet is so convenient that I couldn't bear live without it, and yet it's the root of all these crazy Big Brother complexes. Grr.

...but the nice thing about livejournal is the "friends only" option, and then even going further than that to only allow certain friends to read certain entries.
