it's funny that the reason i wanted to take german in the first place was because i imagined it to be a precise sort of language. we were reading Kant in a philosophy class i took in high school, and i imagined his way of engineering sentences and ideas was a direct result of the language he wrote in; so naturally i wanted a little of that teutonic ( Read more... )

Besides the fact that I would need German if I want to go to grad school (which doesn't look all that appealing at the moment) I'd like to be able to read Hesse in German. I don't know how you feel about him, but I think he's kinda rad.

i actually haven't read him. i've heard both that he's the greatest thing ever, and also that he sucks; he's pretty standard, though, so i should probably read something.
