so Daniel and i were standing around on Celetna street and we decided we wanted dumplings. eventually, i figured that out about the side dishes.
i think if i stayed in Prague any longer, eventually my life would become just a series of such events. both watching Americans deal with Czechs and Czechs deal with Americans was so incredibly frustrating. i would really like to study there, but i think i wouldn't be able to do it in Prague.

i tried to explain that about communism and various other historical factors, but i think his temperament doesn't allow such things. he had something of a victim complex, which perpetually galled me.

also, what was particularly irritating was that he accused me of being sympathetic out of some sort of patriotism, because i'm part czech or something, whereas i was really only being sympathetic because i care about history.

you know, that's really a much harder question. nothing is completely authentic, obviously, but some places are slightly more so... i don't know, i suppose a great amount of my fondness for chicago comes from the fact that it lacks pretention, which is something like saying it's somewhat authentic.
