I really wish women's sizes came in the actual MEASUREMENTS like menswear does. It'd make everybody's lives way fucking easier.

me too. i recently found out that a current size 12 is actually a size 16 or so. it was really depressing to learn that, instead of dropping 2 sizes in a few weeks, i'm the same size i was 6 months ago. :(

Well you did actually drop sizes as a the vanity sizing affected larger sizes too(ie the 16 used to be 18) But yes, can we get some measurements on clothes? or at least a standard sizing chart so if you're a 10 in one company's clothing, you'll be a 10 and all companies.

well these are size 16s from years ago... i don't know how long ago the whole "vanity sizing" thing started.

I - I can't even.

Man, only in America. You have no idea how much we poke fun at the sizing systems there. You guys have this thing about making everything smaller than it actually is! Granted it makes us feel good when we say things in your sizes haha. BUT STILL.

Why lie to yourself? IF YOU THINK YOU'RE FAT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Don't sugarcoat the whole deal, you're not helping anyone. SRSLY.

Though I have to say this post is win. Props to you bb, props to you. /o/ <3

Now, I understand that when numbers get big, people get scared.
i would think that would be a GOOD thing, you know? like when you get to the point where you're going "OMG I'M A SIZE 28 /WRIST" maybe you'll, idk, try to lose some weight? putting a paper bag over your head and going "NO NO I'M NOT A 28 I'M A SIZE 3 PUCE!" doesn't help anyone. orz

I guess I just-- don't see the problem with being okay with the size you are? I mean, it's your body. So long as you're healthy, I don't get why the rest of it should matter. The stigma that OMG A 28 is hideous and you should slit your wrists makes no sense to me.

if you're fine with your size, that's great, i'm just saying the people who ARE horrified by being a larger size should use that as motivation to lose weight, not stick their head in the sand and pretend they're skinny.

Wow, that just sounds like it's making things way more complicated than they ever have to be. :(
