Okay, so that last line reminded me from a scene from The Princess Diaries (where Joseph tells Queen Clarisse she's 'been wearing black too long'), but anyway! I'm really really enjoying this, and I can't wait to read more!
Oh, this is absolutely lovely! You've really captured the essence of the show. Downton feels as great and grand as ever, shadowed by the losses but unbowed by them.
The first chapter had me heaving huge sobs. I don't know if I'll ever be able to watch the CS again, but you managed to capture the tragedy of the final moments and their likely aftermath just perfectly.
I do love your rendition of Anthony! He is distinctly different from Matthew (I love that Mary repeatedly takes note of this), and is decidedly interesting because of that.

I'm quite intrigued by the canon casting of Anthony, though I started writing this before we knew anything and so in my head he is cast as Matthew Goode...
But I'm so relieved people are taking a liking to him. More soon.
