Double Strollers

Aug 08, 2007 10:41

For those of you with 2 or more children, do you use a double stroller? I think I'm going to want one when my next one gets too big to carry in a sling or mei tai. I'm having a hard time convincing Marty that I am going to need one. He says I should just make Ephram walk. I'm sure he will walk, but what about when he gets tired? Sigh.

We are debating this. I think we will sling it until baby gets old enough to sit in the wagon, OR if I get desperate we are looking at the sit&stand strollers.

Yeah, I've seen those sit and stand ones, those are kind of neat. Most of the doubles are so darn expensive. When are you due?

December. It's not really stroller weather around here until April, and lord knows navigating one of those big honking ones will be harder. I've seen them for cheaper at mother-consignment stores, but I've tried folding them up/hauling them around the store and it seems like a big hassle to me. Ella will be two when baby is born, and nearly three before I will have to reconsider slinging the baby, so I don't think we need the big two seater.

We are on the same timeline. Ephram will be almost 2 by the time this baby comes (february), and I love my mei tai. I must be weaker than you, because I only made it 8 or 9 mos carrying Ephram before I needed the stroller. I hate those big two seater ones, too, they look ridiculous to navigate.

We have a Phil & Ted double decker stroller. Julia is definitely old enough to walk but not long distance (we walk a lot in the city) and she still naps so the sit and stand was not on our list. I get stopped a lot by expectant moms... it gets two thumbs up. :)

that is the one I want, but it is so darn expensive and Marty doesn't want me to spend that much. I have ways of convincing him tho.

it's half the price of a bugaboo!! seriously, the price was hard to take for us too but it's great. one complaint... you can't hang grocery bags off the handles sine there are no handles, it's a bar.

some websites have certain colors for way less than retail.

i would not survive without my double stroller. i use the mountain buggy all the time! this summer, i took the boys on two hour walks at least 3 times a week. i have two macclaren(sp) strollers that we use if there are two of us. i highly recommend the mountain buggy but it is big and expensive-two big negatives but the ride is unreal and it is nice to push!

We have a wagon that I love. We only use it when we're going to be out for a long time and it works very well for our needs.

Does Caitlin try to climb out a lot or is that not much of a problem?

She doesn't try, but it has seatbelts in it, so there isn't much of an option either.
This is the one we have:

that is cute. Seatbelts are a good thing. I think I remember you posting about you guys buying this. Does it go over bumps ok or is it hard to manuever?

Marcus has foot issues ..damn I am saying "issues" a lot lately with him... so he isn't much of a walker. I had corinne in the pouch/carrier and had marcus in the chicco until she was 2ish. I had a 2nd hand sit and stand LOVED IT b/c 1 of them usually doesn't want to sit (so happy I didn't buy a gracco or something similar b/c it would have been a waste). We have a double jogging stroller that I only use when I go for walks. Its ideal for that and I go almost every day. We travel a lot on planes/trains/street car as a family and the easiest thing was bringing the chicco and an umbrella stroller.

btw when are you moving?

We're moving Aug 22nd or 23rd, depending on when the movers finish packing our stuff.

Good luck!! I hope this move goes smoothly and that SC is a suburban family oasis :0)
Kind of a bummer though! normal people with kids are hard to come by in this area!
