Ephram just napped for the first time on his new toddler bed. We tried to put him to sleep on it last night and he woke up screaming unconsoleably after about an hour. It took us another hour just to calm him down. I think he must've had some sort of nightmare or something ( Read more... )

We put a doorknob cover on his door b/c we were so afraid of him getting hurt at night (we caught him sitting on top of the fridge looking for crackers one midnight). It actually worked well b/c he would check it and go back to bed.

OMG, on top of the fridge! I actually remember you talking about him getting up there. That is scary. How old was he when he moved out of the crib?

The week b/f his 2nd birthday. It was totally his choice. Though I slept on a mat next to his bed until he fell asleep every night for a year! (I put a tv in his room so I could at least catch some tv time for myself.) As soon as he turned 3 he just started putting himself to bed and sleeping all the way through. Never had a problem since ( ... )

wow, yeah, luckily Ephie has never been much of a climber like that. I don't think he is ready for the toddler bed yet, though. We put him in it the other night and he got up every 20 minutes. When we said it was bedtime, he trotted back in his room and got back on the bed and went back to sleep as long as someone was there. We're going to try again in a couple of months. Hopefully he'll be ready by then.

I like the idea of cosleeping, but I could never really sleep much with him in our bed. I like my space. Your Pedi sounds great, that is good advice. I don't think anything will change with ephie's sleeping habits any time soon. No matter how I try, he seems to just do what he wants.
